Here you can see the difference made in a render by changing the blending mode on a layer with glow effects on it to screen as opposed to normal. A good rule of thumb is that there should never be a time when any part of a glow (be it beam, engine glow, explosion, or whatever) is actually darker than what it is in front of.

The top half is with all the glow layers set to "Normal"; the bottom is with them set to "Screen".

Agan... It's still easier to use the filterring tool in TS5, and put it on one plane infront of the object being attacked. Here, I'll email you what I mean... If I can...

I got Photoshop 7 a couple months ago. It's only about $600-$700.
I finally destoryed the Shivan armada and all I got was this lousy T shirt.

but i have GIMP!!!
