Post by: Kellan on August 07, 2002, 11:16:26 am
Since I am bored, I'd like to know what music you've listened to today.

I'll start:

Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Radiohead - OK Computer
The Breeders - Cannonball
The Fire Show - The Fire Show/Above the Volcano of Flowers

Anyone else? :) :D

Today? I stole the winamp playlist (and the headphones, for that matter) from the a friend of mine that works here too, and it has anything from A-Ha (I'll do my crying in the rain), to Ozzy Osbourne (Mr. Crowley), going through Concrete Blonde, Linkin Park, U2, Led Zeppelin and a truckload of other stuff.

Listening to the radio while I was driving to work, they were playing The Calling (Wherever you will go - the damn thing just won't stop playing! Aaaahhh!), Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a lot of local bands none of you would ever have heard about or have any interest in.

Today? I've been up since 4 yesterday, so I don't know what "today" counts as...

Van Halen something, Frank Black and the Catholics "Pistolero", Soul Asylum "Grave Dancers'", Meat Puppets "Too High to Die", Jimi Hendrix, I think some Modern Yesterday, and some really, really loud dude. I have no idea who the last is, but I like him.

It's funny.

"I go out hunting with my best friend Tarka,
But all I wanna do is get into his Parka."

"These cold winter night, are taking their toll,
I even get excited when I see the north pole."

Nothing. :p

Edit: Wait, I have listened Renegade's music as I was playing it on my brother's computer, as my one can't run, and I haven't even had working sounds in this one for a long time. Format would help, but blah, I don't care if sounds are working or not as this is computer is useless even with sounds. :p

I didn't come up with that acronym - it's just that their name is so long that many people on WinMX and KazaaLite simply acronym it to that the name of the song itself doesn't scroll on to the next page... :p

Hmmm "...acronym it...." - Like I've said before, any noun can be verbed. :D

Heh I listened to a lot of coldplay and Muse. Then I went to my friends house and sang whilst they played jazz funk. It turned out kinda cool because I hadn't sang over that kind of stuff before. If you want examples go find some Herby Hancock tunes, 'doin' it' is really good.

Oh, you mean Soulwax. Yeah, I have Much Against Everyone's Advice too, from a while back. But my musical taste is too wide (and my brothers' too crappy) for him to attack me.

Well, that said, I'm just the weird music person in my house now - to all my family members. I tried to introduce my family to some of my favourite bands. My family said "No." :p

Is there a VHS of it?  I don't have a DVD player.  :(

I prefer the older Tool like on the Undertow and Opiate CD's but I still like them all.  :)

I realise this is derailing the thread and all - sorry - but it's for a good cause ;)

I've got the AEnima and Latarus albums, plus some stuff from the net... I intend to get the others in time but money problems makes that a real no no. As for my favourite songs... Latarus, Parabola, The Grudge,  Ticks and Leaches, Schism, Stinkfest and Triad are my favourites in no particular order. But that certainly doesn't make the others any worse! Tool certainly kick ass - revolutionary music for sure, with style as strong as bands like RATM when they were in their prime. Incredible.

I just love how they are so different than most of the other bands currently in music today.  They're loud, proud and very musically deep.  One of my favourites is on AEnima, can't rember the name, but its the one in german.  I once listened to it for an hour before realising I had the CD Player set to loop the one song.

You mean the one where he does songs with people from other bands, like Billy Corgan and Serj Takian?

Hee Hee, Nah, it's vaguely based on the new Mad Capsule Markets album's name. Glad I didn't have to say that out loud.

On a completely different note, I love Absinthe.

Yeah that's the one

Fire-show, Not bad, I'm not totaly sure.

Edit 2:  Fire-show, good, but doesn't sit right with me.  worth checking out though.  Try The Mudmen (http://www.mudmen.ca/) a good Canadian band, with obvious scottish inffluence.  Try them (especially drink amd fight;) )

Kellan, I listend too... I like em :)
I like the Mudmen too :D

Something I think everyone should chek out:
The Jimmy Swift Band (http://www.thejimmyswiftband.com/) out of Halifax, N.S.
Sort of a rock/techno/funk/jazz type band...
The live version of Now They Will Know they have on their site is great...
