Yar, it's hard to get 4k+ without asploding.  Here I nearly made 4800, and was level on the landing, even levelled out of the first bounce, skidded a while, and then it decided to explode anyway. 



I notice the trick is to have the left booster a little less powered than the right, to help maintain verticalness and conserve fuel.
