How to set amount of players (human controllable ships) in MP Coop missions
Hi all,

I've ben browsing the forums looking for an answer to this, I've downloaded some other user made coop issions and opened them in FRED to see if I could figure it out... Here's my problem

So I made a small, very basic coop mission to test with a friend. It's simply two friendly wings versus one wing of baddies with a wave count of 3. I set the mission specs tab to Multiplayer - Coop, and matched it to what I saw in other coop mission spec tabs, and I marked all the friendly ships as "Player Ship". However, when I load the mission ingame, it reads "1" as the number of possible players, where other modes read "4", or "8" etc. Where do I set this value?

I also tried to set the AI level to none, but that did not seem to work either. I'm sorry if this is answered somewhere else, but I have gone through FREDs help, karajorma's FAQ and various other threads.

PS: Do multiplayer mission files (fs2) go in Data/Missions also, or in Data/Multidata? Or both?

Ummm. The number of player ships sets that setting. You shouldn't need to set anything else other than what you've alrhe only explanation I can think of is that you have another older version of the mission knocking about. Missions go in the missions folder. Check Multidata to make sure it's empty.

The multidata folder is a somewhat half-arsed solution to the problem of older versions of a mission on the server wiping newer versions on the client. Check the options screen in-game to see what it has been set to.

Thanks for the swift reply,  yeah I tried again with a new mission from scratch, and it's working fine now. I'm sure my stupidity was involved at some stage in the process.   :lol:
