I probably shouldnt have spoken L33t....... Anyway I am working on a mod (Who the bloody hell here isnt?) And I kinda need a chief Modeler. I will send you a table of my Luna Games pack and the first ship I would like done. I know this request has been asked a billion times over, but I think my LG pack adds a whole new level to FS2. That, and I try to stay as far away from "True" programming and stick to table hacking. So please help out the N00B Otherwise I may end up like this :

Hey, welcome.

I was in the same situation as you but I had two options, like you do. Ask someone here who is already busy making models to make your models, or go out there and learn how to model yourself! This gives you your own control and creativity, and is an enjoyable thing to learn.

Give it a shot yourself.

yup, learn how to do things on your own first, gain experience and give people reasons to trust you, since as you can imagine an expert modder will hardly join a project that can't show anything already done at a good level (or none at all) and lead by an unknown newbie, who can be from what we know a kickass modder with exactly the same chances of being instead a jackass....
last thing, remind that there are already many models -some good, some not- done by the community and sometimes free to use

Well I'm really no modeller, but what kind of work do you need? I.E. Are you asking for an entire new "race" (read 6 or more ships) or are you just wanting a capship or two?

Obviously the ladder would be easier, and you could probably pull someone politely aside and see if they can help. Otherwise, try using existing mods (see aldos model dumps for some unused good stuff) unless you really think you can do it yourself.

there are many downloads in vw archives and fs2s, other things can be found in the mod database, others in the hosted sites from vw and hlp, for the others you have to search the forums

Check out the Reci Website under downloads IIRC. Just to let you know, they are not complete models, just ones he made in 3d max IIRC, so they still need plenty of work before they can go in game.

Actually no one will care if you go because what can you do about it?

Like the others said, you should try to make models first before you ask others to do such a big thing for you. If you've already tried it but weren't any good that would be a whole new story! When I started out I thought I'd never reach the level the other model makers here were at, but I kept making models and working for MODs and I got better because I was learning new ways to do things and better ways.

So I say you should join a MOD and start working for them.

Well bear in mind, Im in a precarious position. I cant use my home comp due to lack of internet, and it not being at home. Next, I have a budget of ZER0. Lastly, Id prefer to be a director due to my lack of artistic ability.

Shouldn't matter. You can get all the tools to make a ship for free (well you might need to pay to get something better than MSPaint to texture it but at least you can make a start ).

As for artistic ability I have absolutely none but I can do 3D modelling as long as I don't have to texture it. The skills needed for 3D work are completely different from drawing, painting etc. You may find you have them even if your attempts at any other kind of art have been miserable failures

well there's blender and trueSpace 3.2 has been made freeware. Those are great tools and they cost zero $. And if you are using a library computer just ask a friend with internet and a CD-RW to get them for you.

And I started to make 3D models because I can't draw.

look, you simply can't pretend to direct people doing things if you firstable don't know how things are done, and again, nobody will accept the leadership of anyone until he has shown that he has the right ideas/skills/qualitiy etc etc.
hang around here, try to learn doing some things, show us what you can do and the quality of your ideas, join other modding teams so you can learn how things are done, THEN try to launch your own project

I agree.

Lt. Narol, the leader of the 158th Banshee Squadron, can texture, model, and some other stuff I can't remmeber right now. But anyway when he want me to make a ship he sends me some concept models and I put them together and we talk some more and he shows me examples of what he want and so forth. See how good it will be if a project leader can do *most* of the stuff the staff does?
