Well. Having a console isn't enough if you want to work, but a good PC is certainly enough, unless there are some games that you must have on console (none for me). :)

I have a:

Sega Master System
Sega Master System II (we got it real cheap because it didn't work. That was traced to a broken wire in the power adaptor. We got the console and all the games he had, the latter was what made the purchase worthwhile.)
Sega Mega Drive
Sony PlayStation (not mine exactly, but it's in the house) x2 (if you count the one in my PS2 :p)
Sony PlayStation 2
Nintendo 64 (Myer were practically giving these away. Now, if only I could find a copy of Goldeneye...)

3x PCs (though only one, mine,  is really equipped to play games)

I guess there is a linux version of Mathematica available and a keyboard can be connected to the PS2, but how powerful is the FPU and how much RAM is in there? You need a lot of that stuff to do calculations fast... :D

The CPU is a proprietary 294.912Mhz 128 bit part (developed jointly by Sony and Toshiba I believe) and it has 32Mb Direct RDRAM. A floating point performanmce figure of 6.2GFLOPs is quoted but I lost the Sony propaganda sheet to back that up. Given the fact that 3D processig is fairly floating-point heavy I'd expect it to be reasonably good in this area.

  • What the hell are you lookin at?
Nintendo 16bit - 4 games
Sega-20 games
Nintendo 64- 5 games
Playstation-18 games
Original Gameboy- 4 games
pocket Gameboy- 1 game
SNES-4
3DO-2-games
XBOX- 2 games
Dreamcast- many games
Playstation 2- 7games

most of them are Shared between me and My Brothers. Not all have been bought by parents most from Grandparents. Very expensive. :D

I'd say Consoles are equal to Cpu's if you could upgrade Consoles or plug consoles into cpus and make them Quicker than they already are then that would be pretty damn neat.

But Can't wait For Resident Online or Battlefield 1942
Just love resident evil. Be damned RObotech Battle cry never there when you want it.
