Need some suggestions for Terran ships designs... any pictures, websites, films, etc with space fighters.

just something to 'trigger' an idea.... i haven't been able to come up with anything decent (Terran-wise) for a while now and it's starting to bug me

You could make a higher-poly/cooler spinoff of the Actaeon]...one of my favs for design, a lot of potential that isn't QUITE there. Apparently the original author has abandoned it, so I don't think any spinoffs would find a lot of objection.

What about the Starlancer ships? There are a lot of NICE ships in that game that you could look to for inspiration...

I have an idea, but I haven't scanned in the pic yet and it's hugeass and VERY ugly (another one of my scrapyard ships- this one a superultramegacap with several BFReds apparently glued on, etc.)

Well, I remember that morris13 had submitted an impressive Shivan-Terran hybrid for the modelling contest which I don't ever think was properly texutred. It did win Black Ace's award, though. I personally think it has a great potenial as a fighter even if you already have the Selkie.

No something based on Star Fleet's X Bomber design. It has a design which would fit into the Freespace universe quite nicely as a gunship / small cruiser.
Be warned: This site's admins stole 100s of hours of my work. They will do it to you.

Might sound silly, but are you thinking to hard? i find the best ideas come to me like someone throwing a brick at yourhead (Minus the headache, blood and other various nasty things) Try to relax and think other than freespace and don't give me jip about theirs nothing beyoung freespace.

Otherwise check out some of the older sci-fi shows like... wel... blake 7. Something realy old and upadte it.

I also find inpsiration by taking a walk and just thinking about something other than freespace (Ussualy whenthe bricks getthrow at me)

When I get writers block (it happens, even to me), I usually step away and do something else, something not computer related.  Read a book, watch TV, play with my pets, ect.

If I have trouble coming up with ideas (very, very rare), I find that giving myself limits helps.  So I'll give you an idea for one:

The ship can be no bigger than 600 meters, and can't have any beams or flak cannons.  It should be of Terran design.  No fighter bays.

There, try playing with that.  Maybe something great will come to you.

I'm at Uni now, anyway, so it would probably take me till next year
