Isn't winamp 3 better?
What's the dif between 2 and 3? Why are they still developing 2 when they have 3?

w00t, finally I can get a proper, new winamp version.

BTW: 3 is prone to crashes, has bad compatibility even with itself (as in, older versions of "3") and is very slow

I like the new library feature on winamp, especially the internet radio/tv (though there's nothing good on TV... it's good in concept)

Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.

Foo'! You jus' be encouragin' bloatware! ;)

Yeah, WMP9 is decent for what it aims to do, but IMHO it sacrifices far too much performance. If I want choppy video, I'll try to play a movie with a resolution of 1024x640. But when I play a 320x240 res video on a Celeron 500Mhz (2nd gen), I want my framerate!! :D

Media Player 6.4 is what I have (actually quite nice and simple), but there's no reason not to upgrade your WinAmp to the latest 2.x version.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. Geez, something must be seriously wrong with your PC as my old Pentium II never had any trouble handling MP9 despite only having 128Mb RAM even when playing DivX's at full screen (MP8&9's fullscreen transport controls are the best of any player). It's integration with the OS (at least with XP but any sensible person doesn't run anything less anyway)  is second to none (as you would expect), the WMP toolbar is much, much better than many similar solutions for Winamp. As for resource use, I did tests with both MP6.4 and either 8.1 or 9 and found that, when playing exactly the same movie, they used nearly identical amounts of CPU and RAM. Winamp has superior playlist capabilities but that wasn't enough for me to keep it on my system and it was uninstalled shortly after WMP9 was installed.

Ok, my WMP9 nitpicks are:

- No right-click vedio resize stuff
- Slow on a Celeron 500Mhz running Windows 2000 and 128Mb RAM.

Aside from those issues, which are ones I consider important, it does look quite nice. I liked the look that RealOne introduced, and WMP adopted that.

WMP9's too bulky for me... for Video play I use Radlight and with that I could play any video file that I needed when WMP couldn't.

And WinXP sucks, it's shown to be upwards of 30 percent slower than 2k.
