Another MS3D model WIP (requires MS3D viewer to see)...
This is the FU-4 Meifeng, a Chinese Fighter Unit. This heavy fighter is the fourth in the Meifeng line, and is one of the most advanced in the galaxy. While the previous Meifengs were built mostly out of older technology, dating from over 50 years ago, the Meifeng has all the latest equipment, obviously from the same research program that produced the Tsi Yuen. While not heavily armored by European Union or United States standards, it is highly maneuverable and able to pack quite a punch for all those who oppose it. It also includes a secondary atmospheric flight capability. Currently, the Chinese Heaven's Navy (space fleet) is churning out roughly 500 of these fighters per week, according to some conservative estimates.

NOTE: You will need MS3D viewer control. You can either hit "Yes" to the download, or click here: http://www.swissquake.ch/chumbalum-soft/models/index.html Troubleshooting is also available at that address.

Anyways, here it is:

This is not completely done, I still have the cockpit to finish, and to add gunports, but currently the model weighs in at 1162 polies . This is acceptable, because I'm going to try to take advantage of some of the new T&L capabilities with my next series of models.

Comments? Is it original enough, or does it look too generic?

EDIT: Is HTML disabled now?

EDIT 2: Since it seems it won't work in this post, here's a link to my web page, which has the model on it. It's the one on the bottom:

Not bad at all, not too generic, but very atmospheric looking.

All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.
And a laughing yarn from a merry fellow rover.
And a quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Isn't that the same one as last time? It's good, like the Valkyrie...

The one last time is the one on the top. The one I'm talking about is on the bottom ;)

Please visit the page again. I have uploaded the completed (sans textures and pilot model) version. The polycount is 2619 polies.

Thanks all :) Look again at the page, please. I have uploaded a new ship, an EU design. Tell me what you think, it's almost done ;)

EDIT: Updated said ship.

Hey. UT. You just reminded me. Now that HT&L is in are you going to do something with that maintenence/Repair craft you made when MG was still in it's planning stages? IIRC it was around 3000 polys and so was far too high poly for FS2 at the time.

You know, I completely forgot about that! I lost the model, but I remember what it looks like. Good idea, I think I'll pick that up again after I go thru these models I'm doing (I have about 5 sketches from years back, but my modeling skill wasn't up to snuff until now).

It's DONE! Final polycount is a little over 1660 (on the website, it doesn't include the, oh, 10 polies or so that goes into some control levers I put in). All I need now is a pilot model.

That's pretty nice UT but it looks completely different from the original one :D

I like it though :)

Coolness™ on the middle one. But it looks like you skimped on the engine a little bit... :-/

Thanks :) touching that up now...

Anyways, for those of you who avoided the page because you had to download something, I have added an image of the first two (the Chinese and the American ones). The European ones are gonna be done later, and the drone one, well,  I don't want to go thru the trouble right now.

You guys should've SEEN the fuss that the guys over at the Relic boards gave me for refusing to post pictures, sheesh!
