I was thinking earlier today, that most of the current campaigns out there lack voice acting. I've heard it said that its
harder than one would think and I'd be inclined to agree, even though I haven't tried it myself. In any case, one of the main things voices benefits from is having recurring voices with names to them, like admirals, briefing officers, and (in the case of Bosch) villains. If many campaigns in progress are trying to concieve their characters, from time to time it may help the creative process to pick real people out there, actors for example, to try to indicate what type of voice you'd like for your characters. This thread is to suggest, even if its toung in cheek, what existing actors you feel would be good for certain campaigns, or even who would make good voice actors for any FS campaign.
A couple came to mind today, one of which I can't put a name to. He's a high class reporter for one of the major american stations. I don't think he's a news anchor because he always seems to be on location. In any case, he has quite a deep voice and has this way of overpronouncing his "p"'s. This would make it quite amusing to have him as an admiral or briefing officer, just to hear him pronounce "Delta SerPENtus".
Another example uses an FS2 voice vetran, the one and only Kurtwood Smith. Now, I don't know everything about all the campaigns out there (just now starting Inferno), but from what I've heard DEM has some comedic elements to it. Give Kurtwood a position say as a Captain of a prominent corvette or destroyer, but include elements of his "Red Forman" character from "That 70's Show". When you and your wingmen botch a certain opperation he can call you all a bunch of "Dumbasses".
Well, let's hear your suggestions.
Later!
