I'd like to see a retical that got larger according to the weapons $Fof: setting.  make shotgun weapons a bit easyer to use.  but I like the current HUD style,  I'd wrather have an easy to edit HUD.tbl  so you could have custom HUDs for difrent ships...    perhaps some more information avalible like target energy/afterburners or weapon loadout.  for extreemly hightech ships of corse.

Considering that most of the graphical updates have been moving FS2 toward the graphical capabilities of the Flux engine, Steak, you might want to reconsider that.

The Iwar2 radar orb. A true 3d radar that told you where things were around you, and whether they were moving toward you or away from you. Best 3d radar thingy EVAR.

Yeah, what's wrong with Fs2's radar?  Worked fine for me.  I only played the I-War demo once so I don't remember that radar, though.

If I remember correctly, the Colony Wars trilogy had a similar radar system.  Here's an idea.  FS2 radar and I-War radar in-game switch.  2D-3D and back.

That Home Planet thing (the Russian one) had a fairly nice and none headache-inducing orb display setup.

Anyway, something occoured to me teh other day - you know when there's no light on the side of the ship you're looking at and it's basically just a starless hole in the sky? An outline or mebbe even a wireframe would be teh handy

A turn on/offable wireframe on your target would certainly rule. Maybe the stuff on your escort list or certain important ships/wings designated by the FREDer could be wireframed
