Anyone with 5 minutes of their time please help me with this
I need a few people to test this.  It won't harm your system in any way, and all you need is the Flash plugin (Flash 5 or later plugin).

All I need you to do is download this file:
click me

In the zip there is a HTML file, a SWF (Flash) file, and two text files.  Put the SWF and HTML files in the same directory, then open the HTML file.  The rest of the instructions will be displayed in the SWF.  Follow them, and let me know what happens (if the files show up when you click the button, if you get any errors, if you had to "double-click" to get them to open instead of single-click, etc.)

Thanks guys :)
~Stealth~

EDIT:
Please remember, that file1.txt should be placed in c:/  and file2.txt should be placed under c:/test/

basically the HTML page is going to display the SWF, which will try to access file1.txt and file2.txt when you click the button.

umm yeah the reason you can't download it is possibly because the file's not on swooh.  i took it down right after i made the post because i forgot to add something to the file.

well any hope any of you had of a "Freespace Desktop" (see General Freespace forum) just went down the drain with this one.

apparently you have to have the Flash standalone player (which only comes with Macromedia's Flash authoring program(s) for this to work.

anyone with a little more time, if they could download the Flash demo (from Macromedia's website), install it, and THEN try running this?

Only with consent ;)

Anyway, the links on the Buttons are a little odd, that was what wasn't working. Text1 is looked for in C:/ Text2 is looked for in C:/Test/

That's where the error was sneaking in.

yes, but if you open the HTML file... the first page of the Flash movie tells you the four files, and where to play all four of them.  it tells you that file1 should be in C:/, and file2 should be in C:/test/..... check my first post in the thread:

Put the SWF and HTML files in the same directory, then open the HTML file. The rest of the instructions will be displayed in the SWF.

so it works if you do that?

*waits with baited breath*

EDIT:

And Raa, when someone says "I don't care what they say about you" it's a joke.  not to be taken seriously.  at least over here it's not ;)

Yes, it displays the text file. Someone else should check this as well, since I didn't notice my error till after I installed the Flash player, but I think it may be my user error.
