I would think gaming is already, rather than becoming, a mainstream form of entertainment. It has all the narrative & visual benefits of TV and movies, with the added benefit of interaction.

Well, they do have a very twisted logic: Often people who are not that enthusiastic about social relationships, parties and so on do play games. SO THEY MUST ALL BE LIKE THAT

They couldn't possibly using a biased sample and totally ignoring the other normal dudes who play games. Their comments are more like
A: "well I heard this guy killed his parents and played videogames as a kid so they're all idiots am i rite"
