Mission 6 of the second set of FSport keeps crashing just after the cruiser jumps out of the system.  It just drops to the desktop.  Anybody else have this problem?

Considering how incredibly sloppy your bug report is, I'm surprised I know what you're talking about. :p

1) What on earth is the "second set" supposed to mean?  The second set of missions?  There's only one mission pack.  If you mean the second act of the main FreeSpace campaign, you should say so.  Even better would be to give the file name of the mission, sm2-06, or the title of the mission, Shell Game.
2) There are no cruisers in that mission.  There is a destroyer in that mission, which is what you should have said.  Again, it would have been better to give the name of the ship: the Eva.
3) This is the wrong forum.  The FreeSpace Conversion forum is down in the hosted section.  That's where you need to put bug reports and questions such as these.  In the General FreeSpace forum, it is more than likely that a) your question would get lost in the shuffle, or b) nobody who sees the thread will know the answer.  The people who are ready to solve FSPort problems will be in the FSPort forum, not necessarily this forum.

In summary, your bug report is inaccurate, incomplete, vague, terse, and in the wrong place.  Please try to make better bug reports in the future.  It's frustrating for us because we have no idea what you're talking about, and it's frustrating for you because your problem doesn't get solved.

At least you used proper spelling and grammar, so you get brownie points for that. ;)

Now that all that is out of the way: your problem is caused by a bug in FreeSpace Open that has since been fixed.  Download a more recent build, such as Release Candidate 3.

You don't need to be so rude about it.  You obviously knew what I was talking about and you could have just directed me to the proper place to post instead of insulting me.  It was a simple question after all.

BTW, I do have the 3.0.3 of freespace port and it clearly isn't fixed if I'm having that problem.

I'll work on my bug reports if you work on your social skills.

 :blah:

I don't think he was insulting you, I think he was just trying to impress the fact that you will recieve better responses if you put more details (such as version, SCP version [if any], mods used, computer specs, and ecspecially important any kind of bug report.) into the report. We get error posts like this all the time and it does get frustrating. :)

Here is a link to the Scource Code Project Release Candidate 3 he was talking about.

Be sure that you have all required matirial for the FSPort, such as

     the main package,
     sparky_hi_fs1.vp,
fsport-hi res.vp (not sure if it is required, but nice to have),
     warble_fs1.vp
     tango_fs1.vp
     stu_fs1.vp

Not all of these are required, but you might want to get them just in case.

Other than doing this, I am unsure what to do with the information supplied. :)

I guess I have a #4 to add to that list: poor reading comprehension. :p Reread what I said at the end of the post:

We've known about the problem for a while.  It's an old bug in FSO.  It has been fixed since it was discovered.  The fix can be found in RC3.  Comprende? :D

Thesizzler is right; I wasn't trying to insult you.  I had two objectives: 1) to give you the answer to your problem, and 2) to instruct you on how to write better bug reports in the future.  I was blunt in my post because this sort of thing happens a lot, and every now and then I try to be a little more verbose than usual in my explanations.  You just happened to be the guinea pig.  It's nothing personal. :)

Ok, I gotcha then.  Thanks for the link too.
