Render Contest Entry: Swallowed by the abyss
I know, I know, I'm late. But I yesterday was the first time I had a couple of free hours, so I decided to try and work on something. It was done in a rush to meet the contest deadline (though it didn't  ) so it may not be up to the contest standards, but here it goes anyway...

Swallowed by the abyss, developed on 3D Studio MAX r4

I need to steal a copy of MAX sometime... if only because those who use it seem to be the really good renderers and modelers here...

The effects, well- handled excellently, though that Herc thruster flame should not be quite perpendicular to the ship in my opinion... are those laser glows MAX too? 'cause I recognize everything else, it's just like the old parttcle effects I had on RDS...

It's all done in MAX, yes - the only "post work" was the addition of the text on Paint Shop Pro 7.

And the damaged (smoking) Herc is spinning on itself, like the Herc on the Freespace 2 intro (heh, gotta steal the ide... er, get the inspiration somewhere). The other is moving straight forward, and it's thrusters are on the same position as the ones on the model, I don't remember changing anything...

The Rakshasa's beam is outstanding; was that all done in Max?
