You people in England are lucky since you all live on a tiny island where nearly everyone lives in London or close to it.  If there was ever going to be a HLP USA we'd all have to fly someplace to meet, and plane tickets are expensive.

You are joking, right? If I were to go to HLP London I'd need to fly or get a train, although perversely the flights would be cheaper, but still not cheap.

Even from where I am which is the Midlands (north Derbyshire) and with the M1 right next door to me I am looking at a 3-4 hour drive to London or lengthy and expensive train journey.

It takes a three hour drive to get to Salina, Kansas from here.  That's less than a half the way to the other side of the state, much less anywhere of import.

Yeah, its pretty brutal.  With that out of the way, are there any other HLP-ers besides me who live in coastal or partially-inland Southern California?  I live in Orange County so if anyone is in or around Los Angeles, Corona, or maybe San Diego we could meet at a somewhat geographically central location (preferably close to me ) for a couple drinks and some food.  I know this place just off the I-5 that serves great beer and pizza.

you UK? most of the independent takaways (not just pizzas) around here that do deliveries will do so for free on drops within about 3-5 miles of the shop on orders over £8-15 (£15 tend to be the Chinese takeaways) so if your area is similar then you can understand the upset as you would expect a large chain to be able to take the hit as well.

Though tbh making the effort to complain is excessive as I presume the fact that you will be charged is in print on the takeaway menus and in the shop so they should have known.  and yes if we are thinking about phoning an order from somewhere new I usually look at the delivery print to see what the minimum order is for free delivery and say sod that if there is none.
