i have watched all the alien movies, now i have to watch all of the predator movies. ****ing crossovers.
needless to say prometheus throws a trek-like monkey wrench into the whole ****ing plot line. to tie off a couple small, hardly consequential, loose threads in the original movie, they slash huge gashes into the plot of every movie and especially the crossovers with predator. up till a couple days ago i had always assumed that the boneship pilot was in fact a predator. but having re-watched it and watching prometheus again and watching both avp movies as well, the proportions are way off. so yea, il buy into most of the prometheus plot. but that scene at the end bothers me. that is the wrong timeframe for a proto-alien. full breed aliens need to be present in the predator timeframe (present day, though in some of the games predators were around in the aliens era as well).
now they ****ing absolutely have to explain how predators relate to engineers, are they a side project or another race entirely. from what ive seen the predator appear to have superior technology to the engineers. predators seem to have the best energy weapons, and from what i can tell they dont rely on hypersleep like humans and engineers do indicating that their ships have superior propulsion. if engineers created predators no doubt they should have the superior tech, but i dont see any indication of that. it is a shame the only kind of fighting we saw from the engineers was hand to hand, id like to better gauge their tactical capabilities. aside from germ warfare.
if you eliminate predator canon and avp crossovers then everything makes sense. but those are pretty good and give clues to the origin of a lot of the stuff in alien canon. so im going to have to re-watch all 3 predator movies to get a better indication about how they all fit in. now they have to make an aliens vs engineers vs predators vs humans vs whatever other bull**** they manage to throw in along the way. i wouldnt say that prometheus was as bad of an abomination than alien resurrection, but its pretty damn close.
