Description: SCP-3141 is the process known as "UV mapping", or mapping parts of a texture to polygons in a virtual 3D object. SCP-3141 is known to be a pastime of dark cultists such as "modelers" and "texture artists". Such people who regularly engage in SCP-3141 are prone to bouts of mental distress, insanity and [REDACTED].
SCP-3141 is a highly destructive memetic agent capable of inducing obsession, extreme disorientation, mental distress and [REDACTED]. Anyone attempting SCP-3141 (hereafter referred to as SCP-3141-1) usually exhibits the following symptoms:
0-1 hour after exposure: possible confusion, lightheadedness
1-3 hours after exposure: mental distress, disorientation
3-5 hours after exposure: compulsion to continue engaging in SCP-3141, severe mental distress
5-8 hours after exposure: obsession with SCP-3141, frequent assertions that "The UVs aren't in exactly the right place", temporary insanity if removed from SCP-3141
8-10 hours after exposure: loss of most mental faculties not directly associated with SCP-3141, [DATA EXPUNGED]
The process by which SCP-3141 captivates its subjects so thoroughly has yet to be determined. In all cases before class-A Amnesiac was administered, SCP-3141-1 has expressed desire to continue engaging in SCP-3141. In approximately 50 percent of cases, the process culminated in SCP-3141-1 throwing the computer out the window before curling up in the fetal position and weeping. Administration of a Class-A Amnesiac raises survival rate from 10% to 40%. Subjects immediately revert to their incapacitated state upon relapse.
Addendum 3141-A: The harmful effects of SCP-3141 have been shown to be lessened significantly by documents known as "tutorials". More research is indicated.
