I downloaded almost everything that I need with Freespace installer but i have one problem,when it reaches the part with downloading 3.6.8 zeta vp files it says that the mirror is down or something so it cant download the necessary files :(Please help and tell me how can i manually download those files and where should i put them?Of course if there is anything else that i have to download please tell

The release threads for both the 3.6.8 MediaVPs and 3.6.10 MediaVPs are at the Upgrade Project board. I checked last night and the 3.6.8 download links indeed seem not to work. You can download the 3.6.10's. They're still beta, but work reasonably well.

Is there anybody who has some rapidshare links or something like that for those 3.6.8 media vp's?
Oh yeah and one more thing,are there any specific files for playing freespace 1 or somethin?Should i install it?

FS1 is just FS1. You can install it for nostalgia kicks, but you have to keep it separate from your FS2 and FSO.

If you want to play the FS1 campaign, install FSPort. It is a mod for FS2, which allows you to play the FS1 campaign with the FS2/FSO engine and with the MediaVPs.

Thanks Lobo but alass i have another problem.I have downloaded 3.6.10 vps and i have three files MV_Assets.vp,MV_Effects.vp,MV_Core.vp.Do i need to download something else and where should i put them?

Assets, Effects and Core are quite enough. MV_Music would have a couple of higher-quality tracks, but it isn't necessary. AdvEffects would make everything even prettier, but it might also bring your rig down to its knees.

All MediaVPs go to \freespace2\mediavps\. Keeping in mind that you should have only one set of MediaVPs at a time. For example, now that you have the 3.6.10 MediaVPs, you should'n ever try to mix them with the 3.6.8's or 3.6.7's.

Now im going to sound like mega noob but i already have subfolder in mediavps directory its called "data" and three files":

mp-710_adveffects.vp
mp-710_effects.vp
mp-710_models.vp

What am i supposed to do with them?

You mean they're in \mediavps\data\? Strange, since any non-retail vps should be in \freespace2\modfolder\; in this case \freespace2\mediavps\. (And naturally the retail vps are to be in \freespace2\ itself.)

Remove them or move them away. They're patches for the 3.6.8 MediaVPs.

Should i move the data folder too?

Oh and i have in data folder a file called:"fs2open_pxo.cfg"

You can remove \mediavps\data\. There shouldn't be anything in there, apart from some cache files maybe.

But don't touch \freespace2\data\. That's actually an important folder.

And by the way my video card is shader module 2.0.Am i losing something or should i switch something off to increase performance?

you are only missing on the normals, not much of a big deal as of now... if you have the means to get a newer video card, it shouldn't hurt to get one, would it? ;D
