Ok, this time the briefings show no text. Like this:

 When i switch to the next stage, the text appears briefly and then disappears. Everything else (weapons loadout, tech room text, ingame messages etc.) works like a charm, but the multiplayer options tab in FS2 also displays no text. I'll try a reinstall, but i'd like to hear your opinions as well.

I'm running a Pentium II 300Mhz, 96 MB of RAM, ATI Rage pro video card, Windows XP operating system, with a total of 23 GB of Hard Drive

I had the same problems too when I first installed WinXP and didn't had sound drivers but now it works just fine.
