Why don't you set up a cron job to check every minute if the server is off and to restart it if necessary?

How much RAM do you use for Minecraft on the server?

What do the minecraft server logs say?  Nothing at all?  I have a frequent crashing problem on my 1GB VPS and the logs just... end.  No errors.

no NPE's? they're the first to pop up when ram gets sparse.

Nope, nothing.  /gc tells me that only about 300-400MB of RAM is even used up at peak on this server (keep in mind it's only been there for about a week and only has about 1000 chunks in memory).

I thought I turned it off, someone must have re-enabled it, or broken the failsafe that stops it spamming carts. I will remove all carts on the server and try and get rid of them.

dynmap is back online, rhx came up with a pretty smart way of keeping full-sized renders without the server asploding from lack of space.

How not? Go to The End, float to Enderdragon (SMP bug needs you to get to island first), let Qaz switch off floating ability and battle it fair and square. It broke half of my diamond armour. Luckily the new armour system of 1.0 of MC doesn't let you lose health if armour is not too damaged.
