The UV mapping is ongoing. In the meantime, I bring you the Nebulon-B8! You can tell how powerful it is by the number of module stacks it has. As a bonus it also generates clean electricity if left in the wind.

And I'm not totally sold on the idea that the Frigate was originally an Imperial design that ended up in rebel hands occasionally, since we never see it in Imperial use in any of the movies.  I think several of our other ships make reference to that fact though in the tech briefings...though that's subject to change.

That was already in the old X-Wing Handbooks. And already in the first Mission of X-Wing if you get all freighters a Imperial frigate jumps in. Rebels capture some frigates from the Imperials. Kuat Drive Yards build also all the Star Destroyers.

Yeah but the point is it really doesn't fit what we see in the movies. Especially since we never see any imperial ones and  they already have them in the fleet in Rogue One. Plus the design does not look very imperial at all..

To which I'll once again refer you to our FAQ page, which states:
Quote
The only Star Wars canon that we actually care about is what you see on screen during the Original Trilogy.  Throw everything else you know (or think you know) about Star Wars out the window, because we're going to trample all of that under our feet and stamp it into a gooey mess in the pursuit of perfectly capturing the look and feel of those movies like has never been done before.

I'm leaning towards adding Rogue One to that list, but we need to get consensus from the whole team.

Done the UV mapping. I'm pretty sure this is why there are not many complex Nebulon B's in games; it's a lot of surface area to unwrap.

I know you guys only take stuff from the OT. But I always figured that because the two different ends of the Nebulon looked so different. The Rebels had the Mon Cal refit and make modifications to them. Like their refit of the Legends Dreadnaught cruiser.

Also, that Nebulon is HOT FIRE.

I think the textures are pretty much done. I may fiddle with the glow maps.

<MageKing17> "There's probably a reason the code is the way it is" is a very dangerous line of thought. :P
<MageKing17> Because the "reason" often turns out to be "nobody noticed it was wrong".
(the very next day)
<MageKing17> this ****ing code did it to me again

<MageKing17> God damn, I do not understand how this is breaking.
<MageKing17> Everything points to "this should work fine", and yet it's clearly not working.
<MjnMixael> 2 hours later... "God damn, how did this ever work at all?!"
(...)
<MageKing17> so
<MageKing17> more than two hours
<MageKing17> but once again we have reached the inevitable conclusion
<MageKing17> How did this code ever work in the first place!?

<@The_E> Welcome to OpenGL, where standards compliance is optional, and error reporting inconsistent

<MageKing17> It was all working perfectly until I actually tried it on an actual mission.

Awesomeness! Love the AO bake and the light from the viewports reflecting on the hull, as well as the subtle hue changes that make it look consistent, but not monotonous. Looking forward to see this one in-game!

Here's a wallpaper in the style of brandx. There is a larger version too, if anyone wants it.

I have displacement turned on, but I can't raise my subdivision levels very high, since my computer runs out of memory. Oh well, it's about time to upgrade my computer, anyways.
