I am not sure where I am posting this here as the announcement related to my
Shattered Stars project I began over ten years ago, but here it is. This comes lately following
FringeSpace moving to the Unreal Engine five years ago.
To the HLP Community,
After thoughtful consideration and time away, I’ve decided to remove
Shattered Stars: A Deepness Within from Knossos.NET. This step reflects the project’s evolution into a full standalone game—
The Shattered Stars: A Deepness Within—now in active development using Unreal Engine.
When I released the teaser demo in 2018, it was a pivotal learning moment. Since then, the project has grown beyond its original scope as a mod. Rest assured, this transition is driven by ambition, not stagnation. Development is progressing steadily, and while I can’t share specifics yet, the goal remains clear: to create the best possible version of the game fans have waited for. Unlike other gaming projects mired in prolonged silence, I plan to provide updates as milestones are reached.
A heartfelt thank you to the FSO/SCP team, Hard Light Productions, and the modding community for your support over the years. While
The Shattered Stars is no longer tied to FSO, my collaboration with this ecosystem continues. Projects like the
UIMS Starter Pack,
Rekt Galaxies and
FreeSpace: Reunited will keep me engaged here, and I’m excited to contribute where I can.
Life’s twists—family, work, and creative recalibrations—have shaped this journey. However, I am thrilled to return with renewed focus, albeit with my desire to balance with real-life work. To tease a little: the game follows a teenage scavenger navigating a fractured cosmos, blending survival horror tension with space combat’s adrenaline on an ever-evolving open world. Think of it as a genre remix—haunting, personal, and unpredictable.
This project is fluid, and details will shift as we refine our vision. What won’t change is the commitment to quality. It’s a labor of love, and I am grateful for your patience.
It’s good to be back. Stay tuned everyone, progress reports are coming.
Cheers,
Bryan
